Post-Civil War America

Henry Ford’s Assembly Line

This module was focused on the reconstruction period of Post-Cold War America. John Green’s Crash Course video titled Industrial Economy was a great beginning to this module that outlined the economic boom, such as the rise of Rockefeller, after the Cold War. In relation to this video, the History Channel’s video titled Traits of a Titan displays how the entrepreneurs of Post-Cold War America were viewed by the people. An example of the industrialization of this time period is displayed in the video titled Henry Ford’s Assembly Line by CBS Mornings, which shows the creation and evolution of the assembly line. On a different note, the video titled Creation of the Federal Reserve by the Philadelphia Fed outlined how and why the Federal Reserve was created. One of these reasons is explained in the video titled The Panic of 1907 by the Atlanta Fed, which was a financial crisis focused on faulty bank lending. The last video of the module was intriguing, Dr. David Blight of Yale University lectured about the political changes after the Civil War. He focused his argument on the political standpoint of the South. It was interesting how the amendments for the rights of the newly freed African Americans did not really do as much as they were said to do. These amendments did not clearly state whether they were citizens of the state or the country. Overall, this module was aimed at the time period following the Civil War, which was a time of industrialization and financial advancements.
